The Tour d'Uetli is a multi-stage trail running format around Zurich's local mountain, the Uetliberg. New stages are released over several weeks, which participants can complete flexibly - when and how often they want. The best time counts towards the ranking.
Who is the target group?
- Running and trail fans who want to be active away from classic races
- People who want to run flexibly and independently
- Participants seeking motivation through comparison, rankings and gamification
Process & mechanics
- Start in spring, a new stage is published every week.
- This stage can be run as often as you like within two weeks.
- The fastest performance per stage is included in the overall ranking.
- The time is measured using your own GPS devices (e.g. via Strava, Garmin) and is automatically linked to the ranking list.
Special & motivational elements
- More than just speed: In addition to the main ranking, there are additional badges for special achievements such as stages at night or completing several stages in one day (hat trick).
- Low entry barrier: No fixed start time, no mass start - everyone can take part whenever they want.
- Local connection & community factor: The routes lead over familiar and new trails around the Uetliberg.
- Transparency & automation: Participants see their times, comparisons and rankings live - without manual evaluation.
Statistics & impact
- Over 460 registrations were counted in the current edition (2025).
- Participants spent a cumulative total of over 500 hours on the tour trails.
- Compared to the previous year, the number of participants increased by around 30%.
Why is it exciting for partners, sponsors & regions?
- High visibility in the trail running community
- Digital integration (ranking, badges, mailings) enables marketing activities
- Commitment & retention: Participants invest time, ambition and enthusiasm in the format
